Going into business is a major step for anyone. To start your business off on the right foot, we suggest you use the OneStop Business Registration program. This program is offered through Community Futures in partnership with the Ministry of Small Business & Revenue and Western Economic Diversification to better serve our community.
OneStop Business Registration (OSBR) is provided on a fee-for-service basis that allows you to complete multiple government application forms in two easy steps.
Step 1: Complete a (Business) Name Approval Process (available at our office or online at www.fin.gov.bc.ca)
- You must first choose and list three (3) business names in order of preference on your Name Approval Form
- Submit your Name Approval Form to the Community Futures Office along with payment of $31.58 (Please note that we can only accept cash or cheque)
- The staff at Community Futures will then submit your Name Approval Form into the Corporate Registry for approval (the approval process can take up to 2 business days)
Step 2: Complete the OSBR On-line Registration
There is an OSBR Terminal at your Community Futures office or you can complete the process on-line your own home by using your Visa or MasterCard at www.bcbusinessregistry.ca
- Once your name has been approved it is reserved by the Corporate Registry for 56 days from the date of the approval
- If you are registering as a Corporation, we strongly suggest you do so with the support of a lawyer
- If you are registering a Sole Proprietorship or a Partnership, you can apply for GST, PST, and a Municipal Business License. WCB may be applied for through the Worksafe.BC office
